Do you remember hearing this quote by Charles Dickens (1859)? “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of foolishness…?” I can truthfully say that it applies to me, one hundred and sixty four years later!
Perhaps you have noticed that I have not been churning out books since early 2022. From May through October, I underwent four surgeries to correct various conditions that I had been experiencing for three years or so. Just as I was getting back up on my feet, my wife was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and in January 2023 had a total/radical hysterectomy. She is doing very well and is back in the swing of things as you can see from the photo of her. While it may appear that these months were the worst of time, in some ways they were, but I did get to spend a lot of time in bed next to my wife, while we healed! So, I have to say, perhaps it was the best of times!
Now, about my photo…this is what you get when you have a new hairstylist who is 29 years old and she asks you, “Do you want to try something different?” Indeed, this was definitely the age of foolishness on my part! The good news is that hair grows back!
Now that I am slowly getting back into the swing of it, I started a new project, yet still unnamed. While I was sick, I wrote two short stories. One was called “The Devil’s Hacienda” and it appeared in a Halloween Anthology put together by K.C. Luck that was released in October. The other short story was called “Ambush” and it appeared in two previous blogs of mine (you can get it via my website and if you have problems, email me and I will send it to you. It is free). I decided to write several more short stories and consolidate them into one book. Sometimes I just have an hour or so to read and I enjoy a short story, so that I thought others might too. There are a variety of stories: two westerns, a paranormal, two action/adventures, a mystery, and of course, a romance or two. These are all new stories!
Now, I need your help on this. I haven’t been able to come up with a great name for this collection, but I bet that some of you might just have a great title. So, here’s the deal. Email me with a title name and if I use it, I will send you a free copy of the book which will be out sometime this summer. You can email me at morgan@morganelliot.com.
Same goes for a book cover. Send me your ideas, and if I use them, I will send you a free copy, and of course, give you credit in the book.
Before I sign off, just a quick note to let you know I am on Instagram (morganelliotauthor) and TikTok (@morganelliotauthor or MorganElliot676). On both of these social media platforms, you will find information on my books, as well as inspirational posts. At the end of April, I will start a series on TikTok about lesbian age-gap relationships. My wife is 17 years younger and people always ask us how we cope with the age difference. So, “friend me” on both those platforms if you like.
Many blessings to all of you and may spring bring a sense of renewal and resiliency to all you endeavors.
Morgan
